Atmosphere makers
Young people with a social background, these are the Atmosphere Makers. The young people live and come together with elderly people who need care. In addition to the temporary rental agreement, the Atmosphere Makers also sign a volunteer agreement for a certain number of hours per month. Together with the volunteer coordinator, they organize welfare activities on location, such as drinking coffee together, walking, keeping the grounds clean, cooking, walking a dog or playing a game together.
The concept
One of the projects that Alvast is temporarily managing concerns the Torentjeshoef care complex in Berkel-Enschot. Creating life in the brewery and being able to help each other where necessary is central to this. This often means a lot to the elderly in the complex. Not all homes that become available are filled with young people; a significant part is of course still intended for housing the elderly.
Until the new plans for Torentjeshoef are completely clear and the construction of the new apartments starts, we will continue to manage this project. Several seniors have already asked whether the Atmosphere Makers concept can also be applied to the new construction. This says enough about the success of this beautiful project!

Selection procedure
A strict selection procedure is used for the Atmosphere Makers concept. The young people who qualify for this concept must have the right motivation, be sociable and helpful. It is important that they are socially committed. Experience in healthcare or volunteer work is an advantage.
Social management
The vacancy within a residential complex is temporarily filled. The quality of life is maintained, the owner is unburdened, receives a rent and the Atmosphere Makers have a home where they contribute to the quality of life of the elderly.
A success
In a residential complex where this concept has been used for some time, residents ask whether this concept can be taken into account in the new construction of the care complex. This says enough about the findings!
