The day of friendship

Today is friendship day. At Alvast we think it is important that our residents get along well with the rest of the neighborhood, because better a good neighbor than a distant friend, right? It is precisely for this reason that we hand out neighbor cards to our new residents.

What is the Neighborhood Map?

The neighbor card is a card that our residents can hand over to their new neighbors; They will receive this during the key transfer. This contains their name, house number and what they can do for their neighbor. The purpose of the Neighborhood Map is to take the first step towards a good relationship between our residents and their neighbors.

What happens next?

Handing over

Alvast residents can choose to personally hand over the Neighborhood Card to their neighbors. Another option is to leave the card in the mailbox. It just depends on what you feel comfortable with.

First contact moment

On the Neighborhood Map, Alvast residents can write down what they want to do for the neighborhood. This allows Alvast residents and the neighborhood to make contact in an accessible way. For example, the Alvast resident can do the shopping for his elderly neighbor, or maintain the gardens in the neighborhood together. There are plenty of ways to help each other.

The power of repetition

When Alvast residents undertake a weekly or monthly activity with the neighborhood, it is easier to build a good bond and perhaps even make friendships. We know from experience that when an Alvast resident has a good bond with the neighborhood, he feels more at home in his temporary home.

A good atmosphere

When one Alvast resident takes a positive step, the rest of the residents and neighbors often follow automatically. For example, when someone starts tending the garden, others soon come to help. This way, the good example spreads like a snowball through the neighborhood.

Handing over the neighbor card is a small step with major consequences. It helps temporary residents feel at home more quickly and contributes to a pleasant neighborhood.
