Because spring is already in full swing, we would like to give you some tips to prepare your home and surroundings for spring. 

Garden maintenance 

With spring days in sight, it is important to prepare the garden for spring. Everything is growing extra fast now! But how do you prepare the garden for spring: 

• Fertilize the garden;
• Remove weeds;
• Sprinkle lime;
• Pruning plants; 
• Watering;
• Remove green deposits. 

Cleaning wheelie bins

Not the most fun job, but it pays off enormously! You can easily clean the wheelie bins with boiling water and a dash of cleaning vinegar, all-purpose cleaner or green soap. By keeping the bins clean you prevent maggots! 

Outside tap open

Has the outside tap been permanently closed during the winter months? Then it's time to open it again! You will often find the main tap in the meter cupboard or in the crawl hatch. 

Food leftovers

Pests feel most comfortable in food scraps. To prevent the pests from reproducing, it is better to take the leftovers of food outside to the bin as quickly as possible. By putting the food waste in a bag and tying it properly, you reduce the chance of maggots ending up in the bin. Don't leave food scraps rotting in the house! This way, fruit flies lay hundreds of eggs and the damage is done quickly. Prevention is better than cure! 

Ventilate the room

By properly ventilating the rooms, you ensure that there is sufficient clean, healthy air in your home. Moist and dirty air is removed and replaced with fresh air. 

Tip: Open windows or doors opposite each other. Ventilation is more effective if 2 windows or doors are opened opposite each other. Ventilating for 10 minutes per day ensures a fresh air flow. 

Windows and frames

The sun will shine again and this is of course best through clean windows! So time to wash the windows. Be sure to take the window frames with you, which you can wipe with a damp cloth. As soon as the sun starts shining you can enjoy a flawless view!
